Here Are 2 Obvious Truths Nobody Is Saying

While everybody spouts a lot of nonsense

  1. Republicans are going so hard on the LA fires and Democratic leadership in California because they think it could win them the state. That’s why. Opportunitism. Nothing to do with anything else. And if that happens, game over. Forever. No more worrying about the Midwest.

    Will it work?

Who knows? Ted Cruz taking off on a Caribbean vacation during a major natural disaster in Texas didn’t cost him his Senate seat. So the public didn’t care that much about dereliction of public duty there. (Not saying there is in California, just saying…) At the same time, California in the not such distant past, has recalled an unpopular Democratic governor in favor of a Republican.

So, worth a shot, no? The trade off: looking line un-empathic a-holes. But will that make any difference to anyone? No! Hate and blame is what everything’s all about now. Even as people are trying to do their very hard jobs. Get used to it.

  2. Everything Trump does, and everything Trump says, is completely about keeping White men in power in this country long past their due date.

You think Trump is erratic? Look at anything he does through this lens, and everything he does is completely consistent.

I can even prove this empirically: just look at who is surrounding Trump in virtually any photo you’ll find of him at Mar-a-Lago, or coming up in the Oval Office. Or look at who he’s appointing to stuff. Or from the last time he was in the White House. Now compare it to any photo of Biden.

(Curiously, the only POC Trump trusts to be in positions of power are non-Muslim Desi. That was true in his first term too. Never been able to figure out why. But that isn’t the story I’m writing today.)

Yet whenever I see anyone–any pundit or whatever–getting close to saying it, they dance away from it. Why?
