“Crazy-Eyes Kash”

The only way to maybe block Trump’s insane choice for FBI director is to go as superficial as possible

Forget about pointing out his shortcomings and lack of qualifications! That gets you exactly nowhere! I mean Pete Hegseth is Defense Secretary. Mic drop.

Forget about pointing out his shortcomings and lack of qualifications! That gets you exactly nowhere! I mean Pete Hegseth is Defense Secretary. Mic drop.

And Patel is being conventionally questioned on Capitol Hill right now, so it’s probably already too late.

And you know if it was the other way around, Trump would be calling his proposed eyes and ears in the FBI “Crazy Eyes Kash” all day, every day. Until his nomination spun off the rails. And probably a lot worse, since Patel’s not White.

Because Trump knows–and he’s right–that no one gives a crap about qualifications, which in Patel’s case extend to the fact that he’s a lawyer. After that, it’s he’s just a toady completely beholden to sucking up to Trump.

So the only way to attack him where it might hurt him is personally, based on his appearance. That make you feel icky? It should.

But I’m sadly and strongly suggesting it’s also the only thing that might work.

Is it not in your nature? Don’t know how to begin to do it? Trump’s shown you how. In fact, he’s given you a master class.

Truth is, Patel does actually look like an insane maniac, with his bulging eyes, and ever-furious demeanor. You could get some mileage out of that, even without being overtly racist.

And Trump’s never had problems denigrating Democrats as “DEI hires” so why not call Patel Trump’s “DEI hire”. Of course that would be racist. So Democrats won’t do that.

But every time I read about Patel privately meeting with senators and assuring them he’s a serious person and all his frequently stated seditious tendencies are all just hyperbole, all I can think is “those suckers are going to fall for it again.”

Because once he’s in, you and I know damn well which side his bread is buttered on. He’s got free reign, and the people that he convinced to give him the benefit of the doubt can act all shocked and surprised. But then it’ll be too late. And we’ll all be less safe.

So the level to be mounting this resistance is completely not on Capitol Hill. It’s got to come from outsiders (and yes, a good squadron of Trump supporters), putting pressure on those senators, because they damn well won’t mount a pressure campaign themselves, for fear of making Dear Leader feel hurt and vengeful.

And while Trump for some reason seems to only have a soft spot for non-Muslim Desi when hiring non-White people, (he did in his first term too; in fact seem to be the only non-Whites he’s OK with), we’re not sure his supporters would be that steadfast about trusting someone not White as head of the FBI.

So I guess what I’m saying is the only chance of making the confirmation not happen is to go on the attack a la the way Trump would.

Yeah, sort of might have to bump up

against being racist, which I too would never endorse. I also in my personal life never make fun of anything about anybody’s personal appearance. (Even though Trump does all the time.)

I think this may be an exception.

And you could start with deniably non-racist stuff like his crazy eyes, then quickly move to calling him DEI, and from there if they’re so inclined, Trump supporters will know where to run with that even without saying more.

Deep down the people who would have to be saying all this stuff would know they don’t mean it; it’s just be a means to a very important end. Again, a la Trump.

Honestly, it’s making me sick even just saying this crap. And I acknowledge I’m saying possibly a horrible thing. But that’s where we are. Conventional challenges will not work. Period.

So I think it’s the only way to have a very remote chance of making this horrendous appointment not happen. And it still might not work because Trump’s got Patel’s back. So the question becomes is it worth momentarily giving up your principles and giving it a shot?
